
The University of Wisconsin’s Department of Anesthesiology hosted a heartfelt and inspiring graduation ceremony on May 31st, 2025, celebrating the achievements of its residency and fellowship graduates. The event, held at the Pyle Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison central campus, brought together faculty, families, and friends to honor the dedication, growth, and accomplishments of the graduating class.
A Warm Welcome
The celebration began with a 2:30 PM reception, where a professional photographer captured joyful moments among graduates and their loved ones. Residency and fellowship class photos were also taken, preserving a snapshot of the cohorts that have grown together through years of rigorous training and shared experiences.
Opening Remarks
Dr. Eric Simon and Dr. Kelly McQueen opened the ceremony with thoughtful remarks, reflecting on the journey of the graduates and the department’s commitment to excellence in education and patient care. Their words set the tone for an afternoon of celebration, gratitude, and pride.

Recognizing Fellowship Graduates
Graduates from five fellowship programs were honored:
- Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology: Drs. Tyler Beattie and Cynthia Iradukunda
- Critical Care Anesthesiology: Dr. Ryan Luellwitz
- Neuroanesthesiology: Dr. Erica Janz
- Regional and Acute Pain Anesthesiology: Drs. Rachel Corbitt, Calvin Harberg, Doris Pierson, and Alyssa Resop
- Pediatric Anesthesiology: Dr. Michaeli Gorman
Each graduate was introduced by a faculty mentor, highlighting their unique contributions and growth during their fellowship.
