MOCA® Simulation Course
Simulation in Anesthesia for the Practicing Anesthesiologist is a one-day, immersive, experiential learning course that fulfills the Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology® (MOCA®) Part IV (Practice Performance Assessment and Improvement) simulation education requirement. Course participants will experience and observe difficult patient-care challenges that occur frequently or infrequently in clinical practice, present substantial risk to patients, and require teamwork, leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Each participant will play the role of the responsible anesthesia provider for at least one scenario and observe or serve as a secondary responder for other scenarios. All scenarios are followed by an instructor-guided, group debriefing. During the course, participants refresh their skills in managing critical events, leading and participating in team interactions, and organizing and utilizing various available resources, conducted in a safe, relaxed, and supportive learning environment. There is no test or grade for this course!
