Monitoring respiratory parameters and recognizing abnormal values is vital for the safety of each patient under sedation. Delayed detection of respiratory (breathing) compromise impedes the immediate implementation of rescue measures. The end result is insufficient oxygenation to the brain and heart leading to grave consequences, including permanent neurologic and cardiac damage or even death. Our mission and our passion as a research group is to find a solution to prevent catastrophic outcomes by developing a clinically useful respiratory monitoring device.
